"An Exact View"
April 1 - September 1, 1999

C.M. Russell Museum
400 13th Street North
Great Falls, MT   59401

"An Exact View" is a collection of works by seven artists, Monte Dolack, Stanley Hughes, Reid Christie, M.C. Poulsen, Jeff Walker, Judy Sleight, and Paco Young (below),  who create paintings that are precise and realistic.  Their concern is to communicate a subject in great detail rather than as broad expressions of brush strokes or in abstracted forms.  The images must accurately reflect a subject, and be true to its shape, color, and texture.  It is an interest in portraying exactly what the image is, be it a flower, a portrait or a landscape, that distinguishes each of these artist's works.  A first impression is one of easy recognition, however, an examination of the details offers an ongoing exploration of the paintings by the viewers.
