W.A. Guy is a native Montanan who, like his pioneer
ancestors, has been driven to continually seek new frontiers, traveling
the world. He has spent a large part of his adult life living,
studying, and working in Paris and London. While he
now maintains his studio in Billings, Montana, his art often reflects his
adventures abroad, and he paints on location when possible, especially in
his "Scenes From the South of France Series."
The artist’s interest in painting
extends back to his studies at UCLA in the 1960’s.
Later, while living in London he began his serious work and study under private tutors,
including teachers from the Royal Academy in London.
He began his professional career in 1993. His work can be
found in private and corporate collections in Europe and the
US.
With the exception of commission work,
much of Guy’s major work appears in two main series:
"Jazz and Blues," and "Scenes From the South of France." Since returning to Montana, he has begun a Contemporary
Montana Series.
